Meet Quick Style, this group of Norwegian boys who dance to Hindi songs: we also choreographed for BTS

Dancing to Bollywood hits such as Chura Ke Dil Mera (Main Khiladi Tu Anari, 1994), Tumse Milke Dil Ka (Main Hoon Na, 2004) and Kala Chashma (Baar Baar Dekho, 2018) in what felt like a party wedding, Quick Style, the Norwegian dance group went viral and how! Although the group was popular in the West, the dancers were certainly unprepared for the reactions they received from India.

As we tune in exclusively on a call with Pakistani-Norwegian brothers Suleman and Bilal Malik (two of the band’s founding members, Nasir Sirikhan being the third), they begin by gushing, “Oh my God! We did not expect that at all! We receive thousands of messages every day on Instagram. Even aunts and children recognize us.

Don’t confuse them with any other dance group, though. Dancing for 16 years now, Quick Style has even helped choreograph songs such as Boy With Luv and Blood Sweat and Tears for K-pop group BTS. Apart from public adulation, celebrities have also been praising their viral dance videos. Actors Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who originally starred in Chura Ke…, also noticed. Bilal exclaims: “We watched them when we were children, and Akshay wrote: ‘Dil chura liya’! It was really fun.”

Talking about how they came to dance to desi hits, Bilal shares, “Growing up, we had Bollywood music in our house, in addition to Arabic and Pakistani songs. We were familiar with that, and my sister sent us those songs too. That’s how we started dancing to Hindi songs. The idea for this specific show (the clips of which are going viral) was our partner, Naseer’s.

What started as a three-member group is now a 200-member dance troupe. Ask them if all this attention from India drives them to visit the country, and Bilal replies, “We will! It’s fine if we’re approached with awards or something big.
