“So You Think You Can Dance” Officially Returns for Season 17

It’s official: there will be dancing on Fox this summer.

So you think you can dance officially returns for season 17, approximately three years after it last aired, the channel has announced. All episodes will also be available on Fox’s free streaming platform Tubi as well as Fox Now, Hulu and On Demand. Auditions for the multi-Emmy award-winning dance competition series will take place starting in March in New York, Los Angeles and New Orleans.

The new episodes will feature young skilled dancers (ages 18-30), showcasing their talents in various dance styles including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation and breaking it. Those who are selected to move on to SYTYCD will work with world-renowned choreographers and compete weekly in a variety of styles. Expect to see new twists introduced to the competition. More details, including when it will premiere this summer, will be announced at a later date.

Dancers can submit their auditions online by registering and providing a link to a video of their performance. Selected dancers will be invited to attend auditions in New York, Los Angeles and New Orleans. After that, the dancers will be invited to Los Angeles to perform in front of the judges and try to earn a spot as the final contestant.

So you think you can dance was nominated for 71 Emmys and won 17 times, including for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Costume Design. The series hails from 19 Entertainment and Industrial Media’s MRC. It is produced by co-creator Nigel Lythgoe, Jeff Thacker, Rosie Seitchik and Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman on behalf of 19 Entertainment. Seitchik also serves as showrunner.
